Montmartre might be the romantic heart of Paris, a magnet for starry-eyed travelers. At its foothill is Pigalle—its edgier, cooler sibling.

Once Paris's infamous red-light district, Pigalle is now the gritty hub we cherish for an authentic slice of this global metropolis. Sure, it's mellowed since the wartime rumbles, but its nightlife still packs an unapologetic punch.

Hotels are starting to sprout like mushrooms, perhaps because of its strategic location—a 15-minute stroll to Gare du Nord and a wink away from the iconic Sacré-Cœur.

Hotel Rochechouart is the brainchild of Orso, the Parisian hotel group founded by husband and wife duo Anouk and Louis Solanet. They take great pride in partnering with a medley of up-and-coming creatives.

For Hotel Rochechouart, the Solanets appointed interior design company Festen, comprised of Charlotte de Tonnac and Hugo Sauzey. In tandem, they've worked on numerous ventures, each time wielding a 'less is more' mantra.

To curate Hotel Rochechouart, Festen dived deep into historical chronicles, soaking in tales of its bygone days. They approached each room like a sculptor, chiseling away excesses while being wary of veering into caricature territory.

Spanning nine floors, Hotel Rochechouart has 90 rooms and 16 suites. The grand junior suite on the eighth floor steals the show. The cozy room resembles a small apartment with two windows that open up to beautiful frontal views of the Sacre-Coeur.

Festen designed much of the furnishing and accent pieces. Meanwhile, the artwork was sourced from Galerie Française, with other paintings commissioned by Franco-Japanese artist Tiffany Bouelle.
